The City Council invites citizens to contribute to our community through committee involvement. Please complete the Application for Participation on a City Committee to help expedite communications.


Beautification Committee
The Beautification Committee is solely an advisory committee and is limited to making recommendations to the City Administrator and the City Council. The Beautification Committee is the only City committee that provides recommendations for the use of dollars for the Beautification Fund to the City Council. Per the voters of Ouray, and dictated in the City Code: A special fund with revenues derived from 11.875% of Lodging Occupation Tax revenues and all expenditures used for the construction, installation, and other acquisition of street, water, drainage, sidewalk, lighting, signage or other public facilities for the improvement and beautification of the City.



Community Development Committee
The Community Development Committee is solely an advisory committee and is limited to making recommendations to the City Council and the City Administrator in the areas of:
  • Creating and implementing a city economic development plan.
  • Working with the Community Plan and the business community to develop a community marketing plan.
  • Working with the Community Plan and the business community to bring programs which would induce private investment enterprises and commerce.
  • Exploring regional economic development efforts with the Town of Ridgway and Ouray County.
  • Developing a Business Expansion and Retention (BEAR) program.
  • Parcipating in policy discussions and revisions to community planning documents.
  • Making recommendations to the City Council about economic incentive requests.




Parks and Recreation Committee
The Parks and Recreation Committee is solely an advisory committee and is limited to making recommendations to the City Administrator and the City Council.

The scope of the recommendations shall be limited to the following areas:
  • Developing and recommending new policies, ordinances, administrative procedures, and other means to expand park and recreation opportunities in a coordinated and efficient manner;
  • Conducting studies and making recommendations relating to new park and recreation plans, goals and objectives; and
  • Performing any other duties to advise on or assist with park and recreation matters as assigned by the Council.
